The historical No 56 Sqn has a storied history of service with the RFC/RAF during WWI, with many famous aces and distinguished aviators having served in its ranks. Inspired by this example, our virtual squadron is a WWI aviation realism unit focused on teamwork, respect, camaraderie, fun, history, and skill in the sim, Rise of Flight. We fly primarily British rides (especially the S.E.5a) and do in-flight voice comms only for conversation, not for flight or combat coordination (the "realism" part). This is a challenge, but we believe training to rely on our own situational awareness (SA) will ultimately make us better virtual combat pilots.
